Hey everybody!
Just my annual update here, I just finished moving up about 500 miles Northwest of where I used to live (Detroit) to Marquette Michigan. Its quite the transition switching from a metro area of about 4 million people to a town of about 20,000 but I think I'm gonna like it. I Moved up here for school but its a really beautiful area right on the Southern shore of Lake Superior, it's also a hilly, almost mountainous area which coming from flat, Southern Michigan is cause for excitement with me haha. Anyways hopefully this new setting will lead to more regular work from me if I can find the time to get out every now and then.

Finally
So a good 6 months after i had planned on it i finally broke down and bought a D40 today. My graduation money ended up being eaten up by car repairs and my funds have been too tight to swing a camera until now. As you might expect i am really excited to experiment around with it some and having to wait so long to finally get it makes things even worse. Having only used a simple point and shoot camera before I'm completely overwhelmed by all the different settings and modes on this and i expect it will take quite some time to really get the feel for it. I know I'm planning on heading up into northern Michigan sometime within the next few weeks
Camera Advice
Well I'm graduating from high school in a week and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to spend some of my graduation money on a camera. I don't want to spend a ton of money on a new one so i started looking around on craigslist. I've found a couple Nikon D40 Digital SLR's on there for around 350 USD and i was wondering if anyone's heard anything good or bad about them? or if anyone has any suggestions on a different camera that's close to that price I'd be open to other options.
Thanks,
Ben
Worn Out
Hello Everyone!
I just got home from a 4 hour drive home from Northern Michigan and as much as I'm going to miss the countryside up there it does feel good to be home. I had gone up with the intentions of getting some spring photography done but forgot to factor in the fact that the weather up there is roughly a month behind what it is in Detroit so i ended up getting more bleak winter transition stuff. Ill put up what i got over the next few days as i need to filter through it and I'm really too tired to do it now.
Also, same as before, i know next to nothing about Photography so any tips or pointers anyone could give me would be greatly a

I've never been to Marquette but it's definitely on my list for the short-term. My journeys to the UP remain close to I-75 and over to Whitefish. Sorry to say I'm stuck Down River in Lincoln Park for now. I'd love to see some photos of Marquette if you get the chance.
